いでや、この世に生れては、願はしかるべき事こそ多(オホ)かンめれ。
御門(ミカド)の御位(オホンクラヰ)は、いともかしこし。
竹の園生(ソノフ)の、末葉(スヱバ)まで人間の種(タネ)ならぬぞ、やんごとなき。
一の人の御有様はさらなり、たゞ人(ビト)も、舎人(トネリ)など賜はるきはは、ゆゝしと見ゆ。
その子・うまごまでは、はふれにたれど、なほなまめかし。
それより下(シモ)つかたは、ほどにつけつゝ、時にあひ、
したり顔なるも、みづからはいみじと思ふらめど、いとくちをし。
Modern translation
